Rumbling wheels

Whisperers and scurring feet went flying around the corner as the rumbling wheels of the UPS truck rolled into the drive.  The dog must be sleeping around the corner, as she didn't bark, or  perhaps by now she consideres the delivery man her friend, since he usually tosses here a  cookie bone.

So I'm asigned "out" of the bedroom, as the whispering and hurrying continues.  As some of you may know birthdays in our home are spread.... out.... over the month.  Mine was last and so I can't help but expect that the scurring and whispering have something to do with ..uh..me?
Well, I was about to head to the garden and rescue some seeds before the moist weather hits on  the weekend, and get some refresing sunshine and air after spending to many day indoors this beautiful week.  But I've been informed that I'm supposed to say close by for.....? something....hummmm.

Am planning mini green houses with the croup tents by dear husband brought from work.  Have an idea how to anchor them, but make them accessable. The lettuce and spinich should  winternicely under them.  But until it's cold there is so much to finish up out there.  Last year we cleaned out the tomatoes when some cooler weather came, but then we had 2-3 wks more mild weather, infact the beginning of Nov. was beautiful.  Hmmmm. Each year is different. I will be sad to see the warm indian summer leave.

When can I go outside? Well see!

O Lamb of God! Still Keep Me

Today for the first time, I read this hymn.
Some hymns focus on our fidelity to God- our keeping ourselves in the Way.
 but this one focuses on God keeping us. - Always with our consent.
If we could but have this thought permeate our beings, our thoughts, our conversations, many more feet might desire to walk in the Way.  "The Lord is My Shepherd- I shall not want"
We have a dear friend, now sleeping, that loved just this sort of hymn, and always introduced songs for the worship hour with the warmth and love of God in focus.  I miss those holy hours. May the torch still burn.....

O Lamb of God! still keep me Near to Thy wounded side:
Tis only there in safety And peace I can abide!
What foes and snares surround me, What doubts and fears within!
The grace that sought and found me, Alone can keep me clean.

Tis only in Thee hiding I know my life secure-
Only in Thee abiding, The conflict can endure.
Thine arm the victory gaineth O'er every hateful foe;
Thy love my heart sustaineth In all its care and woe.

Soon shall my eyes behold Thee, With rapture, face to face;
One half hath not been told me Of all Thy power and grace.
Thy beauty, Lord and gloy, The wonders of Thy love,
Shall be the endless story Of all the saints above.

All Cleaned up!

 Had to have the house cleaned up early for an apraisal.  Guess well find out what all our hard work around here for past few years has amounted to in dollar value.  All to obtain a lower interest rate, welcome though that is.

So... now that the house is clean and in order I have to go to the kitchen and cook up a storm- or so it seems and then clean it all up again.  Oh well.  Am going to bake a carrot cake for Bethany, Amy and  me.  We all had birthdays within the last month.  Then there's food to prepare for Sabbath and several flats of berries to pick, and beds to make up for the family that's coming  in tonight.

Yester day I had a huge list- more than should be done in one day.  Scrubbed the shower, scrubbed the kitchen stove, including the grate which is always an hour plus job.  Canned green beans, and made Julie's sprouted wheat bread. Which is really good, though I let it rise just a tid bit to long, and think the texture would be finer if I let it grind longer.   Then about 7 pm, Bethany launched into giving me a perm. Yes I wish I had a more curly head naturally, and I'm just not ready to go to a short cut. But we were done by 9:30.  So that feels good to have all those big things done in one day Whew!

Went before breadfast to the garden to get potatoes- They are wonderful this year. And tomatoes, and cucumbers, and zucchini and ground cherries, and O the corn is ready! Wow.  Nice to go shopping  in back yard.

One of these days I will have more pictures to post. Since I'm not the main camera toter around here and most of the pictures are on my husbands computer, I only have some old one today.  Perhaps some day I will have a long..... post of pictures.

This was last years picture but looks nearly the same this year!

Graci is a year older but still can sack out and is such a good farm girl.
We love her!

Blessings to all and have a Happy Sabbath when it arrives.

As for summer, at least we are still having some warm days this week.  Can't say we have a huge tomatoe crop as  does my dear friend in harmony hollow.  But we do have some ripening.  ( by the way, we share Aug for our anniversary month - two weeks apart)We can grow potatoes and berries here.  We had 5 different berries yesterday.
