New blog ~ New thoughts

Even after my best efforts to launch into blogging this summer, it seems to be materializing now. Aside from the busy summer, and the fluctuating internet, the former blog site was limited in its features and now I'm here as this site is more user friendly!  So here I go! It's said to keep the mind young one should learn new things after middle age!! Ok!!

This Christmas season arrived and is passing swiftly on, but I am the lingering type and find myself pondering the sequence of events: that Night of all nights so long ago. The  four Gospels each tell a fascet of the story. And wanting a fuller picture and as part of my personal quiet time, I've set about to link them together in one account. Fascinating!

May the Everlasting Father, Emanuel, the Prince of Peace find a home in our hearts always!

An attempt to write about our trip

It has been a while since any of us have written on this blog. I don’t know how long it has been, but instead of trying to catchup I’ll just write about our trip.
Its rather hard to type at the moment, my dad and one of my sisters are dissecting a kodak camera. Its actually quite interesting! We just got the screen out for a doll TV screen.
Now we are taking out the lens. Oh, and did I tell you this camera is not going to be taking too many more pictures very soon!
Ouch! Dad just got shocked and it started to burn a hole in his hand!
But about our trip I need to write about it if I’m going to do anything at all.
Oooo! Dads taping his foot on the floor. He keeps on getting shocked!
Ok. We started out Friday, mom and us girls…
… “BANG!” Oh, dad just did something and all these sparks went every were! Wow we just found out the battery is 300 volts!
Oh dear! I’m not going any were on writing about our trip, just all the nights happenings!
So maybe I’ll…
… We started out Friday, mom and us girls…
… you know I’ll just make this a post.

How did our garden grow!

Certainly this blog is far from getting high prioity with all the end of summer things to do. Getting produce harvested from the garden and put up for the winter. Berries are still coming out our ears. Very good black berries and still some strawberries, and the last of the fall raspberries are slowly maturing with some warm fall days. Pole beans call for a picking every 3-4 days. The winter squash is maturing and who really knows how many are out under all the lush green folage this year. Corn has been struggling to mature, had a cool start and some what late also.
Amid the busy season of preserving comes the call for a return to the books. Difficult as it is to spend large portions of the day in side, the beckoning call of the book of nature calls pulls for time to read it mysteries that are steadily closing up for the winter. Today when getting in some potatoes Beth found a nest of tiny earthworms, translucent and minuscule. We wondered if they were neomtoads but they acted so much like baby earth worms we dismissed the other. They were nestled in a section of broken down alfalfa pellets we had added to the potato bed for nitrogen and mulch. Unfortunatly the camera was in the house, and it was getting a little dark to photograph tiny things well.
However we had a most spectacular sunset painted on over hanging clouds. It deeped into firey orange and red getting continually deeper until it was lost in the darkening sky. It was brilliant. Far to large to tak the whole sky in with a camera – maybe a panorama. That’s the way it is living on a hill top- you can’t possibly experience a 360 view with one picture.
Have yet to learn how to get pictures into my blog page. But at least today with the girls help we found a new look!
Happy harvest and study time in and out of books!!

To do list: Done!

A new learning experience.- blogging. Posted a picture!  Finally possible with hi-speed internet.  Which saved me hours today with a pile of on-line things to do. We’re  thankfully enjoying the speed vs dial up.  Cleared up my dry erase board of things to do: calls, e-mails orders! Yeah! Feels good to get so many misc. things on the “to do list” Done!  More berries today! Another 1/2 flat of blueberries- despite the water shortages the berries keep coming.  Yesterday another 1 1/2 flats of raspberries. Today more strawberries.   Yesterday got the freezer all defrosted and ready to squeeze just  a little more in!   The girls garden tipi is now strung for the flowers and beans to grow on. Tomatoes are needing to be tied this week and de-suckered too.  Weeding is nearly done -probably for the season.
Enjoying watching 7 baby bluebird grow up and fly. They have the sweetest bird talk.
Couple more tid bits to do…..

Berry Berry Busy day!

Raspberries, Raspberries and more Berries, black cap Raspberries, Blueberries., Marion berries.
Time to defrost the freezer to make room for MORE berries. Yum!
The well is still short on water. Hauling water for garden. Rationing for house use!
Just another opportunity to learn patience, carefulness and endurance most of all Trust in God. Garden is still growing, producing… yes….berries for now.
